RÉ: More Than SPF

After co-founder Themy had pre-cancerous skin surgically removed, the reality of long-term UV damage became impossible to ignore. A conversation with his sister — a doctor — and a trial of a self-tan product sparked an idea.

Our vision became clear; to create high-performing SPF and self-tan products for both men and women. Our mission however was far more deep rooted.

For too long, suncare has been marketed almost exclusively to women. Men have been left with fewer options, less education, and significantly lower usage rates. Studies show that only 18% of men use sunscreen daily, compared to 43% of women, despite skin cancer rates being higher in men globally.¹

By making SPF gender-neutral, aspirational, and easy to use, we aim to close the gap and make daily protection the norm for men as well as women.

We are committed to raising awareness for everyone — but especially for men — about how dangerous UV damage can be but also how powerful daily SPF is as a preventative measure.

The science is clear: 1 in 5 people will develop skin cancer in their lifetime,² and up to 90% of visible skin ageing is caused by UV exposure³ yet by wearing SPF 50, you can protect against 98% of UVB rays.⁴

For us, SPF is no longer optional — it’s essential. RÉ exists to provide daily skin protection for both men and women.
