the rÉ story

RÉ was born out of a personal experience that shaped the founders’ approach to looking good.

After undergoing a procedure to remove cancerous skin, Co-founder, Themy, faced a stark reality: the long-term effects of sun exposure were real, and the need for daily skin protection became more important than ever.

Despite warnings from doctors, sunbeds and tanning remained part of his daily life, until a pivotal conversation with his sister, a doctor, highlighted the dangers of sunbeds and UV exposure and suggested a safer alternative.

After gifting him a women’s self-tanning product — and trying it for himself — the idea for RÉ was born.

Experiencing firsthand how self-tan could safely and naturally enhance his appearance, founders and long-time best friends Alec and Themy began to question why so few self-tan options existed for men and why the overall suncare market was so female driven.

That insight, combined with a growing awareness of the need for daily UV protection, lead to the creation of RÉ: a brand on a mission to increase safe-tanning & spf usage for both men and women.
